DAF 31 Pick-up Variomatic ultra rare full original!

The Dutch passenger car manufacturer DAF introduced a range of passenger cars from 1959 onwards. They quickly became popular, creating demand for additional body styles, including a panel van and a pickup. These true workhorses were rarely spared from hard labour and, after years of service, most were scrapped or dismantled for parts. Production numbers were already limited, and today only two examples are known to have survived.

This is a 100% original DAF 31 Pickup. Ultra-rare is no exaggeration, especially in this condition and with its complete documented history. Only 534 DAF 31 Pickups were built, and just two are known to remain. One is part of the collection of the DAF Museum in Eindhoven, while this is the other surviving example.

The DAF 31 Pickup can be recognised by its distinctive front grille, designed by the renowned Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti. His design gave the little DAF a modern and stylish appearance.

This particular example was discovered by chance in France and has since been meticulously restored to its original factory specification. It is not a converted pickup, but an original factory-built example. It is finished in the correct Dustexa Grey paint with white bumpers and grille. Chrome trim was not fitted, as it was considered too luxurious for a working vehicle. The canvas cover and its frame have also been restored and are fully functional.

Power comes from the original air-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine producing 30 hp, naturally paired with DAF's unique fully automatic Variomatic transmission.

A unique opportunity, although this exceptional DAF has already been sold.
