DAF 44 Luxe with Variomatic 1969 in beautiful condition
DAF 44 Luxe with Variomatic 1969 in beautiful condition
This elegant DAF 44 Luxe was designed by the Italian master designer Giovanni Michelotti, fulfilling the demand for a larger DAF.
Delivered new in 1969, making it an early first-series DAF 44. These models can be identified by their narrow headlamp bezels, single front trim strip and the script logo on the bonnet. Both the beige paintwork and the chrome are in very good condition, showing only minimal signs of use. Lovely details include the original DAF-branded mirrors and the whitewall tyres. This 4402 looks as though it has just stepped out of the original sales brochure.
The interior is every bit as elegant as the exterior. Red skai upholstery with beige and black accents. Here too, the first-series model is clearly recognisable by its two-spoke steering wheel. The seats remain in excellent condition and are very comfortable. The rear seat and headlining are also beautifully preserved.
The odometer reading of 44,444 km is purely coincidental.
This DAF drives wonderfully and has covered just 44,444 km. In recent years it has benefited from extensive maintenance by the renowned DAFdokter in Bleiswijk, and it certainly shows. The original 844 cc air-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine runs beautifully and is paired with the world-famous fully automatic Variomatic transmission. A pleasure to drive, while the Variomatic does the rest.
An early and exceptionally elegant Dutch classic DAF 44. Worldwide export is possible, although it would be wonderful to see this car remain in the Netherlands.
