This beautiful Jaguar E Type Series 1 4.2 Coupe 2 plus 2 was first delivered in 1966 and remained with its previous owner for more than 35 years. It is a true enthusiast owned example that has been extensively restored and mechanically rebuilt to a very high standard.
The bodywork was completely restored during the 1990s and remains in excellent condition today. Naturally there are a few light signs of use consistent with a well cared for classic. The Opalescent Dark Green paint retains a deep glossy finish and is beautifully complemented by the extensive chrome trim. The wire wheels are in near new condition and complete the timeless appearance of this iconic Jaguar.
The interior is trimmed in elegant green leather and has been exceptionally well preserved. The comfortable seats show very little wear reflecting the care this car has received throughout its life. The dashboard is finished in beautiful wood veneer and fitted with the classic Jaguar instruments that perfectly capture the luxurious and sporting atmosphere of the E Type. The original radio is still present and is included with the car.
Power comes from the matching numbers 4.2 litre inline six engine producing 265 horsepower paired with a smooth automatic transmission. Around 2010 the engine was comprehensively rebuilt including new main bearings connecting rod bearings camshaft bearings and the installation of a 123 Ignition electronic ignition system. The automatic gearbox was also fully rebuilt during the same period resulting in exceptionally smooth performance. The combination of the powerful engine refined automatic transmission and unmistakable Jaguar exhaust note creates a truly memorable driving experience.
No expense was spared during the restoration of this Series 1 making it an outstanding example that is ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.
