DAF 66 YA 1975 fully military specification in excellent condition

A very well presented and carefully maintained DAF 66 YA from 1975. Based on the standard DAF 66 this rare version was specially developed for the Royal Netherlands Army. It features a 24 volt electrical system and a reinforced body. An interesting detail is that the YA models were built in Eindhoven rather than Born.

This particular example has been restored in the past and professionally refinished in new paint. The paintwork remains in exceptionally clean condition which is rarely seen on these military models. The body and underside are both free from rust. The exterior is finished with the correct military markings and original military lighting all of which is fully operational.

The vehicle is also fitted with a new soft top and new doors both of which are in excellent condition. The doors are easily removable while the soft top can be opened quickly. The windscreen folds down as well providing the authentic open air driving experience.

The dashboard is neatly laid out with a speedometer fuel gauge and rev counter. All original identification plates remain in place and the original map light is fully functional. Practical additions include a radio and an original DAF centre console. The seats remain in tidy lightly used condition and provide excellent comfort even during longer journeys.

Mechanically the vehicle retains its original 1108 cc four cylinder engine producing 50 horsepower paired with the famous Variomatic automatic transmission. The engine has recently received a major service including new spark plugs fluids and drive belts. New shock absorbers have also been fitted all round.

This DAF 66 YA drives exceptionally well responds eagerly to the throttle and the Variomatic performs exactly as intended. Thanks to its reinforced body the vehicle feels remarkably stable while still offering a surprisingly comfortable driving experience despite its rugged military character.

For the enthusiast this is an exceptionally well maintained example that is fully prepared for summer events touring and classic vehicle rallies.
